ON-FARM CROP DRYING

Dry a superior product ready for a variety of uses

Fox Feeds started drying crops in 2002, with an aim to produce high quality forages for inclusion in our existing products.

We have over 20 years experience and have 2 different drying options to suit a variety of crops. Our drying site houses 2 rotating drum dryers for higher moisture green forages, and a belt drier, which helps to retain the integrity of the plant being processed, lending itself to crops where you may want to keep leaves/flowers and herbs more visible.

What happens at our dehydration plant

The crop is mown, left to wilt, merged, then chopped and loaded by our forage harvester into trailers for transportation to the dehydration plant. Alternatively, you can harvest and transport your own crop.

Crop is fed into a continuous flow of hot air, quickly forcing off the moisture whilst preserving the crops colour, nutritional value and natural aroma. The entire drying process is monitored by our highly experienced Drying team.

The dried crops are cooled and made into large wire tied bales, weighing approximately 450kg. These are stored ready for sale or for use in our chaff mill. We also have the option of blending and transporting your product.
